The idea was to mount this part on a piece of plywood. I cut a slot in the plywood so that part of the casting could fit into it. A lot of force is required when hollow chisel mortising, so I figured the best way to support the casting is by letting it push right up against the plywood base itself. Another block holds the front of the bracket.
